Meet The Khula Team
At Khula, we believe that God has hand-picked every member of our team to be His hands and feet. Our team is made up of amazing people that each bring value to our team, and as you can imagine, spending so much time together really makes us more like a family.
This family laughs together, serves together, does life together and sometimes cries together – but in every season, we confess our dependence on God’s amazing love and grace, and proclaim Him the leader of the Khula team.
Mildred, Mam Shazi and Zandile - The Khula Cooks
Food is a huge part of what we do at Khula, and we are so grateful that God appointed 3 amazing ladies to man our kitchen.
Mildred, Mam Shazi and Zandile have been with Khula for over 10 years and in that time they have prepared and served delicious meals for over 300 children each day. As you can imagine, this is more than just cooking – it’s a labor of love!
We call this trio the “hospitality ladies” because they pour their love out over our children, our team and all who visit Khula.
Ally Minnaar (Operations Director)
Ally has been a part of the Khula Team since 2008. She is the glue that holds us all together, and the vision behind Khula.
She is fluent in isiZulu and loves a good cup of tea, with lots of sugar! Ally also LOVES being behind her camera, almost as much as a cup of tea.
Alta Grayson (Administration)
Alta’s role at Khula began in 2023, and the responsibility of ensuring that all the essentials needed for ministries to run as they should, are ordered and delivered on time.
In addition, Alta collects and assimilates all our stats, compiles donor reports and loves our children every chance she gets.
Jordyn Nel (Administration & Teacher)
Jordyn joined the Khula team in 2019. She spends her mornings doing administration work, and her afternoons teaching.
You can be sure that she will always have a big bottle of water with her, one she is not likely to finish by the end of the day.
Makati (Handyman)
Makati has been with Khula since our very early days. He is our Khula handyman.
In addition to being good at fixing broken things, cutting grass, and changing lightbulbs, Makati is also an excellent DJ who always gets the party started at Khula!
Thandazile, Fikisiwe, Thabsile, Mpume and Cindy (Creche Teachers)
Our Creche teachers are all mothers who love caring for children.
Some of them have been with Khula for many years and as a result, were the first introduction to Khula for many of our local children.
If you have ever visited us at Khula, you would also know first-hand that these ladies have excellent singing voices!
Mabongi Nzama (Special Needs Teacher)
Mabongi joined our Khula Team in 2022. She embraced the opportunity of starting our much-needed Special Needs Class.
Mabongi is always the best dressed Khula team member, which makes sense, because she is also an excellent seamstress.
Nkanyiso Xaba (Music Teacher)
Nkanyiso has been our Khula Music Teacher since 2018. He may seem a little reserved at first, but once he is in the music class, he shines!
He is a major football enthusiast, and he will argue all day that Lionel Messi is the best player in history.
BUHLE (Admin Assistant and Computer Teacher)
Buhle is the newest member to be welcomed to the Khula team, and she is an admin and tech dynamo.
Buhle’s awesome work ethic, and strong admin skills combined with her friendship with all things tech, are a huge blessing to the team.

Monique, Rebecca, and Musa (Teachers)
These 3 teachers are all involved in our Khula Teach program.
While Musa travels to Khula daily, Rebecca and Monique are farm girls who stay relatively close to Khula and joined our team in 2024.
They are all passionate teachers who love making a difference in our community.
